It offers its products through petrol/diesel stations, consumer outlets, lube distributors, SERVO SHOPS, SKO/LDO dealers, and LPG distributors.

The company's XTRACARE petrol and diesel stations offer various value-added services, such as food courts, first aid, rest rooms and dormitories, and spare parts shops.

Its Kisan Seva Kendra outlets provide various products and services, including seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, farm equipment, medicines, spare parts for trucks and tractors, tractor engine oils and pump set oils, auto fuels, and kerosene.

In addition, Indian Oil Corporation engages in explosives and cryogenic businesses.

The company serves aviation, railways, state transport undertakings, industrial, agricultural, and marine sectors.

It has joint ventures with Avi-Oil India Private, Ltd.; Petronet India Limited; Indian Oil Tanking Limited; Petronet VK Limited; Lubrizol India Private, Ltd.; Indian Oil Petronas Private Limited; and Green Gas Limited.

The company was founded in 1958 and is based in New Delhi, India.
